Online tuition is a very effective and flexible method that will improve your language skills rapidly. There is no need to travel, learn from the comfort of your own home or your office at a time that suits you; you will feel relaxed and ready to focus 100% on your lessons.
Daytime and evening sessions are available. All you need to do is to download Skype, it is a free and reliable audio and video platform. You will also need your PC to be equipped with speakers and a microphone, or you can use a headset. You will need a webcam for video lessons but it isn’t essential if you prefer audio lessons. I offer two types of lessons:
- Conversation lessons: For intermediate to advanced level students, a conversation
session based on a pre-
prepared text or topic. Duration of each session 30mn, cost £12.50 per session. The fee includes pre- and post- session e- mails containing advice for preparation, feedback and progress report.
- Tailored lessons where you let me know in advance what you need help with. It could be a grammar point such as practising tenses, improving pronunciation, preparing yourself for a specific work task or a personal project... You name it, and I will prepare a lesson suited to your needs. Duration of each session could be anything from 5mn to 1h, costing anything from £5 (minimum fee) for a short session, to £30 for an hour session, depending on what is involved, and is payable in advance.
Who can benefit from online conversation lessons?
- Individuals learning French for leisure, who have attained an intermediate level*, and want to get to that next step and start expressing opinions, discussing ideas based on a news article or a text, or talking about specific topics in more depth.
Private tuition means that you will improve at a much faster rate than if you were in a class, and together we can focus on your individual needs!
*Intermediate level means that you may have done French level 1 and 2 and are able to express yourself on various basic topics like hobbies, work, descriptions, transport; you have learned the present and past tenses.
- Individuals who can speak French reasonably well, or fluently, and who would like to talk with a native speaker to keep it up!
Who can benefit from online tailored lessons?
- Students or individuals with any level of French who would like regular lessons tailored to their needs.
- Students, or individuals learning for leisure who are struggling on a particular grammar problem, or need help to improve a specific skill such as pronunciation, or help to prepare for a project.
What is the format of the lessons?
- Conversation lessons: your first 15mn session is free and is an opportunity for you
to test online tuition and for myself to assess your level. We will discuss what
your objectives or requirements are, and we can agree on a date and time for your
first lesson. The lesson fee is payable in advance, preferably via Paypal (you do
not need to set up an account with them and I will send you the instructions with
the invoice by e-
mail), but we can discuss other methods of payments if preferred. I will then design your lesson, and e- mail you in advance the text or topic with advice on how to prepare for it, so we can spend the whole session on purely practising your French. I will then send you an e- mail with feedback on our sessions containing the points to improve and suggestions for the following sessions. I will also include a report progress for regular sessions.
- Tailored lessons: following your first free 15mn, once I know what your requirements
are, I will e-
mail you a suggested session format with my fee for you to accept. If the lessons become regular, then the same format as for the conversation sessions will apply.
